Classification: Query
Surnames: Eyre
Professional historian seeking information on the following members of the EYRE family, with a view to tracing the whereabouts of John Eyre (John Lorimer Rashdall Eyre; b.14 April 1918; educated at Marlborough and St Peter's College, Oxford; worked for British intelligence during the Second World War; 'dropped out' of society in 1967 and wrote a book called 'The God Trip' in 1976).

So far, I have JLR's family as follows:

Mother: died when JLR six months old; daughter of Thomas ROME, one-time chairman of the Mersey Dock and Harbour Board.

Father: (John/James/Charles?) Eyre, vicar of a rich parish in Liverpool, cousin to Crosthwaite-Eyre family of Bramshaw, which traces its roots back to William the Conqueror.

Grandfather (probably): John Rashdall Eyre (b.1850; d.1912) the archdeacon of Sheffield, 1896-1912. Sons: James (b. c.1878); John (b. c.1880); Charles Howard (b. c.1883). Daughters: Mary Maud (b. c.1873); Elsie Austin (b. c. 1874); Alice Gertrude (b. c.1877); Clara Florence (b. c.1882); Jessie Marguerite (b. c.1886); Helen Nona (b. c.1889).

Any help anyone can give me on this would be most welcome. I am desperate to trace John Eyre: the trail for me goes cold in Glastonbury in 1876, where he was writing his book.
