Keith,
My grandmothers name was Lily Stockley, she immigrated to Toronto, Canada in approximately 1918 from West Bromwich, Staffordshire England. She had brothers named Frank, Harry and Benjamin, and sisters named Adelaide, Elsie, Gertrude. One brother Ben Stockley came to Toronto, Canada and owned and operated a boxing gym in the heart of Toronto near Maple Leaf Gardens, he died in Toronto in 1951 was born in 1886 in West Bromwich near Birmingham. Ben was fondly known as Sir Benjamin Stockley and I often visited his widow during my childhood, he collected antiques. Harry immigrated to New Haven, Ohio where he owned a farm and he died on Feb 28,1958. I used to have a newspaper clipping where he had found the remains of a mastadon on his land and it went to some Museum. It appears that Frank moved to Dudley and had his family. There is a record of John Cyril Stockley born March 30, 1906, died April 22, 1906, buried April 26,1906 age 4weeks. I am not sure who the parents are but I beleive it could be Frank's child as he appears to be the only son who stayed in England. I know that Frank had a son named Frank Jr. and that he died in around 1976. I don't know anything of Harry's Family. I hope this information has been helpful or interesting. I have other names and dates from my grandmothers journal.

My Grandfather, Norman Richard Samuel Stockley was born 1899 (probably Staffordshire) died 1986. His father Richard Stockley marrried Mary Beardmore. Grandad lied about his age in order to join the Leicestershire Regiment c.1917:served in France: captured, spent rest of WW1 in POW camp.

I think that your Grandfather Norman Richard Samuel STOCKLEY's father Richard, who married Mary [Polly} BEARDMORE may be related to my Great Uncle George Francis BEARDMORE who married Charlotte Louisa STOCKLEY. Certainly Gt Aunt "Lou" had a brother Richard a nephew Norman and nieces, Minnie and Evelyn. George Francis BEARDMORE was the brother of my grandfather William Henry BEARDMORE and my late mother Constance Louise BASTON [nee Beardmore} was named for Gt Aunt Lou, who was her godmother.
Don't know what relation [if any] George Francis Beardmore was to Mary [Polly] Beardmore - certainly not brother and sister but maybe cousins?
Sincerely, Gill Beardmore Picken (nee Baston)

Hi there. I am a Stockley in Australia. It seems I have a lot of stockley ancestors in England but i am struggling to find any real leads. my great grandfather came here with his wife Lilian, my grandad and my great uncle in 1928. I have gone back a little way to Thomas William Stockley b 1845 in Brentford, England and he died 13 Nov 1934.
He was married to Emma Richardson. this makes thomas my 5 generations great grandad. I would love to know as much as possible about my stockly family. What I do know is that we all seem to be from london area. esp Brentford.. There is also one of my great great uncles - James Attle Stockley who immigrated to Canada and served in a number of battles and wars. According to his war file he was heavily tattooed. If you have anyone from thhis line in your family tree please contact me via email.. kyliefamilytree@hotmail.com
